iDolch

iDolch is an electronic flashcard set of pre-primer and primer Dolch Words, the most frequently found words in the books that children read. Reading experts commonly agree that mastery of the Dolch words provides an excellent base for developing literacy skills.

The Dolch word list is also commonly referred to as sight words since many of these words cannot be “sounded out” phonetically and therefore must be learned by sight recognition. Mastering sight words is important since these are the words that make up the majority of most texts and form the basis for reading fluency and literacy development. These words are usually learned in first and second grades and provide a very strong base for beginning reading.

To use iDolch, tap click the Preprimer button for the Preprimer set, the Primer button to use the Primer set, or the Both Levels button to study both word sets. The Random button will randomly shuffle the cards. Tap click the GO!! button to begin using iDolch. While playing, the arrow keys will navigate back and forth between words. The speaker icon will read the work to you. The Menu button will always take you back to the main screen.
